Poetic Panama Inspires US Ex-Pats

“O Land of Love and Pleasure,
Of soft and languorous days,
Of brilliant flowers and sunny hours,
How shall I sing thy praise?”
This poem by an anonymous writer in the 16th century expresses the love affair visitors and residents have had with Panama for hundreds of years. Today, Panama continues to write its name on the world stage as a place of inspiration and culture.
Panama City features dozens of art stores and festival dedicated to the country’s rich artistic traditions.
Not surprisingly, Panamanian art tends to be expressed in the vibrant colors that characterize the landscape of this lush tropical nation.
One of the stronger influences on Panamanian art is the textile tradition of the native Kuna people.
Famous for a patchwork style woven fabric, the Kuna still ply their trade as local artisans. Traditionally fashioned into a blouse like garment called a “Bolas”, Kuna textiles are valued for their native artistry as well as their durability.
When considering the purchase of real estate for recreation or residence, remember to factor in the stabilizing and enriching role that the arts play in any community. A love of the arts demonstrates a community’s commitment to the best of humanity. This is attitude is displayed in abundance in Panama.
